Support for Self-Regulation

College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba

This College is very interested in supporting and promoting this request from PAM to become a Regulated Health Profession. In our mind, there is no more appropriate organization to be the first to seek this new status under the RHPA than the Paramedic Association of Manitoba.

College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba

We have been in communication with the Paramedic Association of Manitoba (PAM) and are aware of its pending application for self-regulation under The Regulated Health Professions Act. We are supportive of PAM's application to regulate its own members in the practice of paramedicine.

Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists

On behalf of the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (M.A.R.R.T.), I am writing this letter of support in principle endorsing your request to self regulate the practice of paramedicine in the province of Manitoba.

Becoming a regulatory college would regulate your practice of paramedicine thusensuring public protection and competency of its members in the practice of emergency medical services.

College of Midwives of Manitoba

We have been in conversation with the Paramedic Association of Manitoba (PAM) and are aware of its pending application for self-regulation under The Regulated Health Professions Act. In our discussions with PAM, we have indicated our support for its application to regulate their own members in the practice of paramedicine.

College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba

We have been in conversation with the Paramedic Association of Manitoba (PAM) and are aware of its pending application for self-regulation under The Regulated Health Professions Act.

This letter serves to communicate to you our acknowledgement of, and support for, its application to regulate their members in the practice of paramedicine.

Emergency Medical Services Chiefs of Canada

I am writing to you in support of the Paramedic Association of Manitoba and their efforts to obtain self regulatory status for Paramedics in Manitoba.

The EMSCC supports self regulation under the Regulated Health Professions Act for the Paramedics of Manitoba. This would allow Manitoba Paramedics the flexibility to adopt evidence based best practice, ensure public accountability and advocate in the best interest for the people they serve.

Paramedic Association of Canada

We are delighted to learn that your Government is interested in receiving a submission for the regulation of the paramedic practice, from the governance team of the PAM. We understand that this regulation would fall under the overarching Health Disciplines Legislation.

Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union

The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union represents both rural and urban paramedics in Manitoba. We have had a number of conversations with the Paramedic Association of Manitoba regarding their submission for self-regulation including standards of care and professional practice. In our discussions with PAM, we have indicated our support for their submission.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Senior Officers Association (WFPSOA)

As a group, WFPSOA would like to express its support for the Paramedic Association of Manitoba sponsored application for self-regulation under the Regulated Health Professions Act.

"I am very excited with the news of the application for Self Regulation."

"It is with tremendous pride that I write this letter of support for the Paramedic Association of Manitoba's application for professional self-regulation under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). Other health professions are regulated to ensure the public is protected when they seek or receive health care. With the body of knowledge, skills and critical decisions Paramedics are required to make, the time has come to join the other health professions. Paramedic practitioners are best suited to govern their profession to ensure the public interest and safety."

"I would like to lend my written support to the Paramedic Association of Manitoba regarding their application for Self Regulation under the Regulated Health Professions Act. I feel very strongly that this quest will be in the best interest of public safety and professional accountability."

Jodi… "You, and the Association, have my full support in the application for self regulation."
